Access Doors.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing access doors and all incidental hardware in accordance with section 506 of the standard specifications, ANSI/AASHTO/AWS D1.5-95 Bridge Welding Code, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Adjusting Diaphragms.doc 07/05 This special provision describes adjusting diaphragms and cross frames where girders are vertically realigned.  Perform the work in accordance with section 506 of the standard specifications, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Anchor Assemblies Light Poles.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing anchor bolt assemblies for light poles as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Architectural Surface Treatment.doc 07/05 This special provision describes constructing a concrete masonry architectural surface treatment on the exposed concrete surfaces of the structure, as detailed in the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  

 

Asphalt Panels 05/07 This special provision describes furnishing and placing asphalt protection in accordance with Chapter 29, Part 2 of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Manual, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Bearing Maintenance .doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing the expansion bearings at the abutments and piers, blast cleaning and painting them, and reinstalling the bearings, in accordance with the plans and as hereinafter provided.  
Bearing Repair.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing the bearings at the piers, blast cleaning and priming the bearings, furnishing and placing shims, resetting the bearings, and furnishing and placing new anchor bolts. All work shall be in accordance with the pertinent provisions of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Bitumen Coating.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and applying bituminous coating and primer to steel pile surfaces as required on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Cleaning and Painting Bearings.doc 07/05 This special provision describes cleaning and painting the existing steel bearings on structures as shown on the plans, as directed by the engineer, and in accordance with section 517 of the standard specifications.  
Cleaning Parapets.doc 07/05 This special provision describes cleaning the inside face and top surface of the concrete parapet. This work shall be in accordance with the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Clearance Gauge.doc 07/05 This special provision describes cleaning the end of a pier and painting a clearance gauge on it. This work shall be in accordance with the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Combination Railing.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and erecting a pedestrian railing fabricated from structural steel and glue laminated timber in accordance with the requirements of sections 513 and 507 of the standard specifications, as shown on the plans, directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.

Concrete Masonry Bridges Lightweight.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and placing lightweight concrete masonry for the open grid bridge deck in accordance with section 502 of the standard specifications, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Concrete Masonry Bridges Steel Fibers.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and adding steel fiber reinforcement to the superstructure concrete. All work shall be in accordance with section 502 of the standard specifications and as hereinafter provided.

Concrete Staining Multi- Color 05/07 This special provision describes furnishing and applying a multi-color concrete stain to the exposed concrete surfaces of the structure as detailed in the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Conduit Hangers.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing hanger rod assemblies and concrete inserts for the department’s signal and lighting conduits, in accordance with the plans and as hereinafter provided.  
Cored Holes.doc 07/05 This special provision describes coring a two-inch diameter core sample from a crack in the concrete structure that has been repaired with the epoxy injection method.  
Deck Drainage System.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing, coating, and installing deck drains, in accordance with the plans, the pertinent requirements of sections 514 and 612 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided. Included in this work are the deck drain downspouts at the abutments and all other components required for draining the bridge deck.  
Deck Patching Structure.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing unsound or disintegrated portions of the concrete deck below the existing surface, and placing a new concrete surface, in accordance with the plans and section 509 of the standard specifications, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Diamond Grinding.doc 07/05 This special provision describes diamond grinding the surface of the existing concrete deck in a longitudinal direction, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Drainage System.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing a drainage system on Structure B-XX-XXX.  Work shall be in accordance with details shown on the plans, the pertinent requirements of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Earth Drilling.doc 07/05 This special provision describes boring holes for the H-pile posts of a post and panel retaining wall in accordance with details shown on the plans, the pertinent requirements of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Epoxy Crack Sealing.doc 07/05 This special provision describes sealing vertical cracks in the abutments in accordance with the details shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Epoxy Injection Crack Repair.doc 07/05 This special provision describes repairing structural cracks in the pier by the epoxy injection method, in accordance with the requirements of section 509 of the standard specifications, as shown on the plans, directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Erecting Structural Steel.doc 07/05 This special provision describes erecting new structural steel and placing new bearings for structure B-XX-XXX.  Work and material shall be in accordance with section 506 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  

Expansion Device Modular.doc 

08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and installing a shop-fabricated waterproof modular expansion device in accordance with section 502 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  The modular expansion joint device shall seal the deck surface, curbs, gutters and parapet walls as indicated on the plans.  Any leaking or seeping of water through the joint will be cause for rejection of the modular expansion device.  
Fabricated Expansion Bearing Assemblies.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing, fabricating, storing, and transporting to the project site the expansion bearing assemblies in accordance with the details shown on the plans, section 506 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Fabricated Fixed Bearing Assemblies.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing, fabricating, storing, and transporting to the project site the fixed bearing assemblies in accordance with the details shown on the plans, section 506 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Fence Chain Link Vinyl Coated Retrofit.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing new vinyl clad chain link fencing to structures on the existing repainted framework in accordance with the pertinent plan details, section 616 of the standard specifications, as directed by the engineer and as hereinafter provided.

Fiber Wrap Column Reinforcing.doc 07/05 This special provision describes providing a fiber wrap system around concrete columns using high-strength, hybrid fiber/epoxy composites field-applied to the columns in accordance with the details shown on the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Finger Expansion Device.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing expansion devices by welding in place to existing expansion devices, in accordance with the details shown on the plans, the pertinent provisions of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Foundation Drilling 05/07 This special provision describes drilling/boring holes for the H pile posts for the retaining wall. Work shall be in accordance with the plans, the pertinent sections of the standard specifications and as hereinafter provided.  
Hanger Assembly.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing new hanger plates, pins and bushings, in accordance with details shown on the plans, the pertinent provisions of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Membrane Waterproofing .doc 09/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing a rubber-based bonding adhesive and a layer of butyl rubber sheeting continuously along the horizontal surface of the deck plates, the vertically inclined surface of the ballast stop plates, and the back face of the abutment backwalls of the railroad structure, in accordance with the details shown on the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Navigation Lighting.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing navigation lighting in accordance with the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided. Furnishing and installing conduit will be paid for under the appropriate bid item.  
Pier Column Encasement.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing all delaminated and loose concrete, installing welded steel wire fabric, and encasing the existing pier column with new concrete in accordance with details shown on the plans, the pertinent provisions of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Piling CIP Augered.doc 07/05 This special provision describes placing 12 3/4-inch diameter cast-in-place concrete piles in augered holes, in accordance with details shown on the plans, the pertinent provisions of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Piling CIP Concrete Steel Oil Field Pipe.doc 07/05 In lieu of cast-in-place concrete piling, steel oil field pipe may be furnished. Steel oil field pipe, if used, shall have a minimum outside diameter of 8 5/8-inches.  
Piling CIP Concrete Steel Plate Ring.doc 07/05 Weld a 1/2-inch steel plate ring to the piling prior to driving.  Locate the ring on the piling where the original ground line is expected to be after driving.  
Piling CIP Concrete Wall Thickness.doc 07/05 Furnish piling with a minimum wall thickness of 0.25 inches.  
Piling Steel Delivered HP.doc 08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and placing steel HP piling of the lengths and at the locations shown on the plans. This work shall be in accordance with section 511 of the standard specifications, the plan details, and as hereinafter provided.  
Piling Steel Sheet Temporary with Tiebacks.doc 07/05 This special provision describes designing, furnishing and installing temporary steel sheet piling with tiebacks in accordance with section 512 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Preboring Steel Piling.doc 07/05 This special provision describes preboring into dense soil or sound rock and filling the area around the piling with sand as shown on the plans and as hereinafter provided.  
Precast Prestressed Concrete Deck Panels.doc 07/05 This special provision describes manufacturing, transporting, and erecting precast prestressed concrete deck panels in accordance with the plans, the pertinent sections of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.   
Prefabricated Steel Truss Pedestrian Bridge.doc 02/08 This special provision describes furnishing a fully engineered, fabricated steel truss pedestrian bridge structure, including bearings, and transporting and erecting it as shown in the plans, in accordance with part 5 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  These specifications shall be regarded as minimum standards for design and construction.  
Prestressed Girders Box Type.doc 08/06 This special provision describes fabricating, furnishing, transporting, and erecting box type prestressed girders, in accordance with section 503 of the standard specifications, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Asphaltic Concrete Deck Overlay.doc 12/05 This special provision describes removing the 1 1/2-inch minimum thickness asphaltic concrete overlay with an underlayment of waterproof membrane by milling the entire bridge deck, in accordance with section 204 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Asphaltic Concrete Overlay Existing 3-Inch.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing and disposing of the existing 3-inch asphaltic concrete overlay on the bridge deck along with a portion of the concrete deck along both gutters as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Concrete Masonry Deck Overlay.doc 5/07 This special provision describes removing the 1 1/2-inch minimum thickness Grade C or Grade E concrete masonry deck overlay by milling the entire bridge deck, in accordance with section 204 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Crushed Aggregate Slope Paving.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing and disposing of asphaltic-coated crushed aggregate slope paving as shown in the plans, in accordance with section 204 of the standard specifications, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Seal Coat.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing the seal coat by milling the entire bridge deck, in accordance with section 204 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Removing Sign Bridge.doc 07/05 This special provision describes removing the sign and sign lighting units, the sign bridge walkway, the three-section aluminum truss, the towers, and the footings at the location shown on the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  

 

 

Reseal Crushed Aggregate Slope Paving.doc 08/06 This special provision describes sealing the existing crushed aggregate slope paving in accordance with pertinent provisions of section 604 of the standard specifications, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Reset Existing Bearings.doc 08/06 This special provision describes raising the girders on Structure B-XX-XXX, removing the existing fixed bearings at the abutments and the east expansion bearings at Pier 1, and resetting the bearings to original plumb configuration, as shown in the plans, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Rock Drilling 27-Inch Diameter.doc 08/06 This special provision describes boring holes for H-pile posts that will be used for the retaining wall. This work shall be in accordance with pertinent requirements of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Sawing Pavement Deck Preparation Areas.doc 08/06 This special provision describes sawing the boundaries of the existing concrete on the bridge deck that has been sounded and marked for deck preparation. These boundaries will be at least 2-inches and not greater than 6-inches outside of the unsound or disintegrated areas of concrete, as directed or marked by the engineer in the field.  
Slope Paving Breaker Run.doc 08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and placing breaker run slope paving on the abutment slopes of Structure B-XX-XXX.  Construct this work to the elevations, lines, grades, depth, and cross section indicated on the plans, in accordance with the applicable provisions of section 604 of the standard specifications pertinent to crushed aggregate slope paving, as directed by the engineer, and as hereinafter provided.  
Slope Paving Repair Crushed Aggregate.doc 08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and placing crushed aggregate slope paving where erosion has occurred.  This work shall be in accordance with section 604 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Special Surface Finish Sandblast.doc 08/06 This special provision describes giving exposed concrete areas of the structure a light sandblast.  
Stone Facing.doc 08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and placing stone to face all abutment wingwalls, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Stone Facing Field Stone.doc 08/06 This special provision describes furnishing and placing a natural field stone fascia on the parapet, wingwalls, abutment, and deck edge, as shown on the plans, and as hereinafter provided.  
Temporary Shoring Railroad.doc 07/05 This special provision describes furnishing and installing temporary shoring at locations alongside railroad tracks as shown in the plan and in accordance with the shoring design requirements.  
Treated Lumber and Timber.doc 08/06 This special provision describes work in accordance with section 507 of the standard specifications, the plans, and as hereinafter provided.
