information needs of the entire department. Use the links below to

Research reports and briefs
WisDOT
Research selects and funds research projects across a range of
subject areas, from highway materials and construction to
multi-modal policy and planning. These projects are typically six months to
two years in length and respond to a need for in-depth
research to address a problem.
Transportation Synthesis Reports
TSRs are quick-turnaround reports that capture recent
research and best practices on requested transportation topics. They
help WisDOT staff identify new technologies and practices, make
better investment decisions, and monitor federal guidelines and key
transportation trends.
Transportation literature searches
Both the WisDOT Research Program and Library conduct
TLSs-targeted keyword searches to identify completed research on
topics requested by WisDOT technical staff.
Peer exchange reports
To help WisDOT staff learn from other agencies' best
practices, Research provides planning and logistical support, travel
expenses, and reporting services for these multi-day conferences.
Transportation research videos
Research produces brief videos to highlight the benefits of
high-impact research projects.
